Petit Manseng
Petit Manseng is an aromatic white grape from southwestern France, best known from Jurançon, where it produces everything from dry wines to intensely sweet dessert styles. Expect pineapple, peach and apricot with citrus, honey and spice. Its brilliant acidity makes it a great match for spicy curry, seafood, roast pork, blue cheese and fruit desserts.


Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is a dry, structured red grape from Piedmont in northern Italy, famous for making Barolo and Barbaresco. Expect red cherry and raspberry with rose, herbs, spice and earthy flavours, backed by high acidity and serious tannins. It’s brilliant with steak, roast beef, lamb, beef ragù, mushroom risotto and truffle pasta.


Mourvèdre Rosé
Mourvèdre Rosé is a dry, full-flavoured rosé best known from southern France and Mediterranean wine regions. Expect strawberry, raspberry and watermelon with herbs, citrus and peppery spice. Fresh but more structured than many rosés, it’s brilliant with grilled chicken, salmon, prawns, BBQ food, pizza and Mediterranean dishes.


Monbazillac
Monbazillac is a rich, sweet white wine from southwestern France, usually made from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble rot. Expect apricot, peach and citrus with honey, marmalade and floral notes. Luscious but fresh, it’s brilliant with blue cheese, foie gras, cheesecake, crème brûlée and fruit tarts.


Marsanne
Marsanne is a dry, medium to full-bodied white grape best known from France’s Rhône Valley, with ripe pear, peach and melon alongside white flowers, almonds and gentle spice. Rich, rounded and beautifully textured, it’s brilliant with roast chicken, pork, grilled fish, creamy pasta, mushroom dishes and buttery seafood.


Malbec
Malbec is a bold, dry red best known from Argentina, particularly Mendoza, with rich flavours of blackberry, black plum and black cherry alongside cocoa, spice and violet. Full-bodied, smooth and made for big flavours, it’s brilliant with steak, burgers, roast beef, BBQ ribs, lamb and slow-cooked meat.


Lemberger
Lemberger is a dry, medium-bodied red best known in Germany and Austria, where it’s better known as Blaufränkisch. Expect black cherry, blackberry and plum with pepper, herbs and spice. Fresh but structured, it’s brilliant with sausages, roast pork, burgers, roast beef, mushroom dishes and tomato-based pasta.


Kerner
Kerner is a fresh, aromatic white grape from Germany, producing wines that range from dry to slightly sweet. Expect peach, apricot and green apple with citrus, floral notes and a mineral edge. Crisp and fragrant, it’s brilliant with seafood, roast chicken, spicy Asian food, sushi, salads and creamy cheeses.


Gutedel
Gutedel is a dry, light-bodied white best known from Germany and Switzerland, where it’s called Chasselas. Expect green apple, pear and lemon with delicate floral notes and a fresh mineral edge. Subtle, clean and easy-drinking, it’s brilliant with grilled fish, prawns, salads, roast chicken, asparagus and mild cheese.


Grauburgunder
Grauburgunder is the German name for Pinot Gris, a dry, medium-bodied white with ripe pear, apple and peach alongside citrus, almonds and gentle spice. Usually richer and rounder than Pinot Grigio, it’s brilliant with roast chicken, pork, grilled fish, creamy pasta, mushroom dishes and roasted vegetables.


Gewürztraminer
Gewürztraminer is a hugely aromatic white grape best known from Alsace in France, with unmistakable flavours of lychee, peach and tropical fruit alongside rose petals and warming spice. It can range from dry to sweet, and it’s brilliant with Thai curry, spicy Asian food, aromatic chicken dishes, pork, strong cheese and fruit desserts.


Gavi
Gavi is a dry, crisp white from Piedmont in northern Italy, made from the Cortese grape. Expect lemon, green apple and pear with white flowers, almonds and a fresh mineral edge. Light, elegant and seriously refreshing, it’s brilliant with prawns, grilled fish, seafood pasta, roast chicken, salads and fresh Italian dishes.


Garganega
Garganega is a dry, light to medium-bodied white grape from Veneto in northern Italy and the star behind Soave. Expect lemon, pear and green apple with white flowers, herbs and a distinctive almond finish. Fresh but full of character, it’s brilliant with seafood, grilled fish, risotto, roast chicken, pesto pasta and fresh Italian dishes.


Gamay
Gamay is a dry, light-bodied red grape best known from Beaujolais in France, packed with juicy cherry, raspberry and strawberry alongside floral notes and gentle spice. Fresh, fruity and low in tannins, it’s brilliant with roast chicken, pork, charcuterie, pizza, sausages and mushroom dishes – and it’s delicious slightly chilled.


Franciacorta
Franciacorta is a dry, traditional-method sparkling wine from Lombardy in northern Italy, made mainly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Expect lemon, green apple and pear with brioche, toast and almond notes from bottle ageing. Fine, elegant and seriously food-friendly, it’s brilliant with seafood, sushi, fried food, risotto, roast chicken and Parmesan.

Fiano di Avellino is a dry, medium-bodied white from Campania in southern Italy, made from the Fiano grape. Expect lemon, pear and ripe apple with white flowers, hazelnut, honey and a mineral edge. Fresh but beautifully textured, it’s brilliant with seafood, grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy pasta, risotto and fresh Italian dishes.


English Sparkling Wine
English Sparkling Wine is a crisp, traditional-method sparkling wine made in England, particularly across the south, often using Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Expect lemon, green apple and pear with brioche, toast and almond notes. Fresh and elegant, it’s brilliant with seafood, sushi, fried food, roast chicken, canapés and soft cheese.


Dornfelder
Dornfelder is a deeply coloured red grape from Germany, producing wines packed with blackberry, black cherry and plum alongside gentle spice and floral notes. It can range from dry to slightly sweet, with soft tannins and plenty of fruit, making it brilliant with burgers, sausages, roast pork, pizza, BBQ food and tomato-based pasta.


Côtes de Provence
Côtes de Provence is a dry, pale rosé from Provence in southern France, usually made from grapes such as Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah. Expect strawberry, peach and watermelon with citrus, flowers and fresh herbs. Crisp, elegant and ridiculously refreshing, it’s brilliant with seafood, salads, grilled chicken, sushi and Mediterranean food.


Cortese
Cortese is a dry, crisp white grape from Piedmont in northern Italy and the grape behind Gavi. Expect lemon, green apple and pear with white flowers, almonds and a fresh mineral edge.
